PARENT-RUN SUPPORT GROUPS
Parent-run support groups are the lifelines of our organization. It is through these networks that families and children find help through others that share the disorder, find resources, and establish an understanding community.
If you would like to start a support group in your area, we provide training and support materials to get you started, as well as continuing support through our organization’s resources.
Here's how our support groups work:
1. A trained clinician or parent helps organize and develop the support group.
2. S.T.E.P. Up 4 Kids provides minimal funding for advertising and library materials, and assists in the start-up process.
3. Parents organize and run the group themselves.
4. Continuing resources, education and training are available as needed.
