CAMPS FOR CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER

Camp Rise Above

View the brochure

Camp Rise Above was launched during the summer of 2007. It is designed to meet the needs of children who require more individual attention and specialized staff to mentor and supervise them than the average camp is able to provide.

The goal of the camp is to provide a safe, fun environment where children with bipolar disorder can learn new skills, make new friends and enjoy fun activities. The staff/camper ratio is 1:2, with a supervisor available to jump in should a child need 1:1 care at any time.

Themes of this year’s 2008 session include enhancing positive thought patterns & self esteem, mastering fear, controlling emotions, strategies for succeeding in school, friendship building and teamwork. Activities such as Frisbee, bowling, karate class, sailing, go-cart racing, a day at the beach, a visit to the aquarium, a water park, Nickel City, and Game Universe will be included in the cost of the camp.

The camp will be held from July 28th-August 1st and from August 18th-22cnd. Campers may attend one or both weeks. For more information or to obtain an application, please contact Emily O’Connell at 617-851-4083 or by email: emilyoconnell@comcast.net.

Donations for scholarships are also welcome. To make a donation, please go to the home page or mail it to:

  • Identify the specific needs of children, adolescents & families during the summer
  • Developing an agenda & timelines
  • Targeted fundraisers to support the camps
  • Hiring and training our staff leaders
